Karl Wiegers is the Principal Consultant at Process Impact, a software development consulting and training company.
Previously, he spent 18 years at Kodak as a research scientist,
software developer, software manager, and software process and quality improvement leader. Karl has a PhD
in organic chemistry. During the past fifty years he has designed chemistry
experiments, software applications, software development processes, books, songs, games, and training courses.
Karl is the author of 11 other books on software requirements, project management, consulting, and software quality,
as well as a memoir of life lessons and a forensic mystery novel, The Reconstruction.
Several of Karl's books have won awards, most recently the Society for Technical Communication's Award of
Excellence for Software Requirements, 3rd Edition (co-authored with Joy Beatty). Karl has served on the
Editorial Board for IEEE Software magazine and as a contributing editor for Software Development magazine.

When he's not at the keyboard, Karl enjoys wine tasting, volunteering at Meals on Wheels, military history, playing guitar, and writing and recording songs.
